As part of its final activities as William Appling Singers & Orchestra, Inc., the Board of WASO has produced a video with music and images from William Appling's life and recordings and projects over his long and distinguished career. Included are selections from his work with the Glenville High School Choral Club; the Case Men's Glee Club; soprano A. Grace Lee Mims; the Vassar College Madrigal Singers; the William Appling Singers & Orchestra; and a selection from his recording of the complete piano music of Scott Joplin. There is a short interview in which Mr. Appling discusses the roots and meaning of hymns and spirituals, recorded at the time of the release of "Shall We Gather—American Hymns & Spirituals" in 2001. There is also a live video recording of Mr. Appling and the Vassar College Madrigal Singers in New York City in 1992, one of the only known videos of him conducting.

We hope you will enjoy this small sampling of the music William Appling produced over his lifetime. The video was compiled and produced by WASO Board member William McClelland.
