The Celebration Continues!
June 29, 2013

On June 29th, 2013, William Appling Singers & Orchestra presented A Tribute to William Appling: The Celebration Continues! It was a day of music, reminiscences and tributes to William Appling, and also helped to raise funds towards the completion of the William Appling - Scott Joplin Project. The program can be seen below.  You may also view Photos from the event and read a wonderful post about it by pianist Debra Lew Harder, who performed at the Tribute.

You may listen to an audio recording of the event here. Part 1 begins with the “Welcome” from D. Eric Pogue and ends with “Rock-a-My Soul” as listed in the program. Part 2 begins with Marco Granados. The order of Part 2 is different on the audio recording than the program listing below. After Marco speaks and plays, Ian Frazier speaks, then the chorus performs the two selections from Randall Thompson’s “The Peaceable Kingdom,” then Debra Lew Harder speaks and plays, and finally two selections from William Appling’s recording of the complete piano works of Scott Joplin are heard: “Pleasant Moments” and “Scott Joplin’s New Rag.”
